April 7, 2024 - Top shoulder. Outstanding red and black fruit, earth, mocha and touch of iron. Full and silky on the palate. Amazing balance and length. Still going strong after four hours.

July 23, 2023 - A second bottle of 1961 Talbot is considerably better than the first, gaining with time to show a ravishing, redcurrant jelly fruit, still sweet and succulent after all these years. Complemented by red licorice, menthol, sandalwood, and darjeeling, this is a complete, lovely Talbot and a classic representation of the chateau's style in the 1920-1961 era. This is silky in the mouth and shows good pep. That glorious, fruity finish just lingers and lingers. Amazingly, this still needed some time in the decanter (it was, unfortunately for my guests, better at the end of the night than just after decanting) and the remnants were just as dazzling the next day.

July 23, 2023 - This example of the '61 Talbot doesn't live up to the wine's potential, offering a pleasant, earthy aromatic profile, but there isn't much definition or impact.

July 7, 2023 - Still very alive, berry fruit, coffee grinds, tea leaves, some vegetal notes, forest floor, complex. Palate is refined, still some acidity and fruit, med finish. Nicely done
