January 6, 2024 - A wonderful wine. Better than a Ch. Simone rouge 2013 three years ago (see TN), which I remember to be rather sombre and unyielding.
Complex on the nose, precise, fresh and inviting with red and dark fruits (cranberries, ripe cherries), typical provencal balsamic notes and some forest floor. In the mouth the wine is still youthful with freshness and lots of finely chiseled tannin. However, it is also nicely accessible. The wine has that old-vines-feel about it with its intense flavours and a rich and strikingly beautiful texture. Very good length.
For me the wine stands out for its combination of a solid structure à la Bordeaux with a provencal taste-profile and - in this vintage - with its natural balance where no hair is out of place. There is no need to score it for its singularity and rarity, this is by all accounts a great red wine and I immediately went out to pick up some bottles of the 2019.

March 29, 2023 - This has been open for an hour or so. Big nose with some heat and dark fruits, hints of prune, savory herbs and maybe a bit of tobacco. Maybe a bit of VA and Marzipan? Palate is ripe and full of medium dark sweet fruits and herbs -very umami with serious drying tannins in the finish with a nice sweet streak of dark fruit. Ends with the herbal of course. I find the finish the best at this point. Let’s see how it opens. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16/20.

November 12, 2022 - Day 1 - Seamless and complete nose - cranberry, cherry, and raspberry initially, gained blueberry and wet pebbles later, with subtle kick of vanilla. Hint of cinnamon and cacao is determining overall tone of aroma - some sophisticated confectionery. Tannin is high (-) but soft, with texture of extremely fine sand on surface, loosely connected/cushioned like feather pillow. Clean medium (++) acidity. A little shy on day 1, I’m sure it will get more expressive with age - at this moment only the perfect balance is highlighted (but what a delicate balance/texture). At $45+, this could be an ideal daily wine for rich people, rather than a special occasion wine for middle class people (like me), if that makes sense. Music analogy for classical music geeks - Cleveland orchestra. 91.

Day 2 - tannin and acidity got tighter/firmer, maintaining the tart red fruit - a bit reminds of alto piedmont. I liked the day 1 better. Might open up later but the bottle is gone. 90.

August 27, 2022 - Delicious. All about texture — this has a lot in common with nebbiolo — big tannin, lithe body. A pleasure to drink.
