  November 15, 2023 - 9th of 12, opened 90 minutes, perfect cork and level, most attractive bottle yet, at last starting to shed rustic rough edges to reveal a surprisingly aromatic, sophisticated (in modern sense) and layered wine, though with significant unresolved tannin remaining, still marginally on tough and austere side as befits a wine from the heights of Monforte, I think this will carry on improving for many years yet. F+ (18).

  January 23, 2020 - 8th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, essentially as March bottle, better on nose than palate where burly tannins intrude, played second fiddle to Einaudi Cannubi 96, time in hand and with enough fruit to settle. F (17.5)….these 96s should go on developing for years!

  March 17, 2019 - 7th of 12, decanted an hour, travel up quarter cork, perfect level, fruit dumb, tannins tad intrusive, nice and cool, much better with food when quite rich and nuanced core started to emerge, scope yet to improve. F (17.5)…...a riserva wine from best of Monforte's Le Coste from the slow to mature 96 vintage!

  May 2, 2016 - 6th of 12, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - less impressive and more rustic than September note. Just about fine (17.5).

  September 8, 2015 - 5th of 12, pnp, showed better and classier than last November's note, lovely pure, cool fruit, beautiful length and balance. Fine plus (18/20).
