December 16, 2022 - Light amber clear tone from this first edition of Sori Tildin. Dried meet, sweet nose with fruit commensurate 52 year old wine. Not the wine of the night but maximum respect from everyone.

July 14, 2021 - 1970s Wines for Edwin's Birthday (La Bracceria, Greendale Avenue): A mature gem. It had a lovey old Babaresco nose, with drifts of red cherries and berries, roses and violets, spice and smoke, even a touch to honey, all playing against a lightly savoury backdrop or broiled meats and forest floor. It was really lovely on the palate too. Not a blockbuster, but really elegant, with fine-boned tannins and fresh acidity strung through still lovely notes of red cherries and wild berries, these liberally seasoned with dashes of spice, earth and just a hint of those florals moving into an orange peel finish. Absolutely lovely stuff, drinking beautifully now. A touch lighter than the great vintages, but boy this was super for its year.

October 4, 2019 - 4 hours bottle breathe before serving into Zalto Universal glass (“Leaf” day): Pale ruby with fine deposits compared to the clearer 1971.

Salami-like meaty and spicy notes. Nicely integrated although arguably less focus and depth. More red berry fruits emerged over time and started to converge with the 1971 profile.

Really enjoyable although less structured than the incredible 1971 tasted alongside. Really quite emotional.

October 19, 2018 - FWG Lunch with Gaia Gaja (Ai Fiori Restaurant in the Langham Place Hotel, NYC): [Double-decanted at 10am.] Ethereal nose. Exquisite palate of cherries and licorice. Heaven in a glass. This was the first vintage of Sorì Tildìn. What an experience.

November 9, 2017 - Gaja Sori Tilden White Truffle Dinner (Ai Fiori): Curious nose, sort of like a really great flour tortilla. Warm strawberry fruit, sort of mushy. Unduly funky, and I usually really like funky old Italians. Palate is tired and quickly finishes with sharp acid. Nothing compared to the '74 and '71 unfortunately.
