July 12, 2022 - Really delicious with a pistachio dessert. The wine was smooth and all enjoyed it. IWFS dinner.

February 19, 2022 - Dinner with friends. 6h Audoze, served nearly at room temp with cream cheese-fig jam pastry bites. Impressively good condition; bottom of neck ullage, and cork came out in two sound pieces. No sediment. Color was dark gold approaching amber. Beguiling and intense nose of amaretto, bourbon vanilla, and accents of honeyed and dried tropical fruits. Unlike any Sauternes we have tried before! Rich and glycerized mouthfeel. One of the most impressive aspects of this wine was the astringency and elevated acid on the midpalate and into the finish, which gave this a firm structure capable of holding up to a rich bite of dessert. (This is in marked contrast to some of the 2000s vintages from this estate, which seem to be "over the hill" ~20 years from vintage.) There is probably no rush to drink the '75s. After 47 years, it is at peak and should hold for another 6-10 years, or more. Outstanding 96.

May 30, 2021 - A 65th Birthday Celebration, Slightly COVID Delayed (EL Ideas - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. This had an intriguing sweet/ bitter combination going on that made this both enjoyable and interesting.

March 25, 2019 - 1995 Bordeaux (Beautiful Solvang, CA): An interesting style of Sauternes, more elegant than many, with a very thick, glycerined texture and similarly dense flavor profile. Muted marzipan and almonds. Plenty of acid. A touch herbal on the finish, with just a hint of astringency.

Delicious. Sappy, golden, nutty with some brulee notes. Loved it. Plenty of time left too.
