August 6, 2023 - First of 6 bottles, pnp, with yesterday's leftover grilled ribeye cap steak. Grippy tannins, some red fruit. Muscular, not very complex. The pleasant (though modest) nose doesn't give away the austere mouth feel. It "feels like" there's still some stuff in this bottle, just waiting to resolve itself. I bet the next glass in a couple hours is better, and a glass tomorrow better yet. I'll wait about 2 years for the next bottle... seems to be typical for 2016 left-bankers, even with value wines. If the tannins smooth a bit and some secondary notes come out this could become a very nice $20 wine. If not, it will still be a full-throttle, in-your-face, well made wine (albeit a bit simple), and isn't that what we expect from St-E?
2nd glass, open for a couple hours... now lots of sweet tobacco and sour cherry, maybe some graphite. Tannins have tamed a bit, but still front and center. Air did wonders, but this bad boy needs more bottle age. -

June 13, 2021 - By the glass. Finally a structured and tannic wine. Traditional grip and exceptional length for what it is. Classy and tasty. It still needs some time for sure.
Por copas. Por fin un vino estructurado y tánico. Agarre tradicional y una longitud excepcional para lo que es. Clásico y sabroso. Aun necesita algo de tiempo lo más seguro.1 person found this helpful Comment -

July 1, 2020 - Meh..Just earthy and dry but no fruit or depth. Nothing like the 2014..I don't know what happened in 2016. Just space taker in the cellar...Glad its the last one. Drink

September 21, 2019 - Forward, round, earthy, smoky and fruity, the wine is medium/full bodied. On the palate the wine is loaded with earth, cedar wood, tobacco leaf and dark red fruit in the finish.

August 15, 2019 - Fresh, balanced, dry and long...A welcoming bouquet of tobacco leads you to the table wine underneath. There's nothing noteworthy or prolific about this wine yet....All in all, its just too young for that. I see this growing by a point or so more, but I like the 2014 better...Never the less, a great weekday wine. Drink or Hold
