March 16, 2024 - Bright translucent ruby color. Intense nose of sweet raspberry and strawberry, with herbal undertones. Inviting and soft palate, with the red fruit kept in balance with the spicy and herbal notes. Great acidity and long finish. This was served pop and pour and showed well. This feels really youthful and no rush to drink here. This is a great example of what California Pinot can be.

April 16, 2023 - Opened, poured into a decanter and then tasted. Gabriel Gras Cru.
Wonderful bouquet. Bright red fruit and a savory-herbs and brown spice notes.
Garnet color.
Fresh red fruited intro that fans out with woodsy forest floor notes and touch of fresh mushroom.
Good acidity.
Shows a slight rustic/acidic element on the palate and a slight touch of heat - surprising given the 12.7% abv. These both dissipate with a little time being open.
Enjoyable. -

October 17, 2022 - Always the most seductive of the Rhys vineyards. The texture is like a spa treatment for the palate. The fruit feels as fresh and sweet as the stomping vat. This bottle was drained very quickly.

December 27, 2021 - Giving up more than it did a year ago, but still tight. Lovely red fruits - raspberry, red plums, cherry, strawberry - spice, and a bit of wet leaves/forest floor. Very nice now, pretty and medium bodied, but give it at least another 2 years.

March 30, 2020 - Decanted for 2 hours. Thought this was going to be tight, but instead this wine was pretty expressive on by the nose and the palate. The nose was rose and cherries with almost a creamy element. On the palate, this was so well balanced with no heat and a hint of acid on the finish. The most distinctive element was how savory this wine was, almost Gevrey Chambertin like. Cherries, plums, hay and meaty. May be my favorite Rhys to date.
