October 23, 2015 - No ullage and cork in great shape. Good color in glass with browning. Subdued bouquet. Full bodied fruit on palate with dusty tannins. Fine particles of sediment. Have two more and should drink them soon. Who says Beaujolais can't age?

February 5, 2008 - I bought three bottles of the 2005 Trinquee in early 2007. I opened the first bottle within a week of its arrival at my doorstep and found it to be...shall we say terrible. It tasted as though it had been raised outside in the cold, brought up by wolves, and had never been taught to love. It was flavorless with hard edges and no finish. FLAT. I then tried the second bottle in August 2007 (see tasting note) and didn't think it was any better. I just thought oh well, bad wine but fortunately didn't pay much for it. Then one glorious day last week I decided to open the last bottle I had, mostly because I just wanted it out of my collection. Well this one was much much better. The fruit had finally emerged showing nice ripe rasberry, a bit of Indian incense, valencia oranges, and a little earth. The wine had gained weight and was also showing some grippy tannins. What a difference a few months makes. Wish I had another bottle to try in a year. Good juice. Goes to show some Cru Beaujolais does improve with age.

November 3, 2007 - Light fruity smells. Surprinsingly high tannins. Tart and acidic. After two days it was like vinegar.

August 20, 2007 - I didn't find this wine all that good. Fruity without much of a core or soul, the 2005 Trinquee from Duboeuf was none of the things I was hoping for; spicy, charming, and memorable. The only aspect I found somewhat interesting was a vivid aroma and palate of tobacco leaf. This wine lacks depth and character. I dont recommend it. If you are interested in a good beaujolais, one that I've imbibed on two occasions and like very much is the 2003 Julianas from Duboeuf.
