April 8, 2022 - Pretty much open for business from the first sip, and I am definitely a buyer here. Lures you in with a sweet presentation of white nectarines and flowers, that a rather serious, quite nervy mid palate structure that seamlessly transitions both fruit and soil. The third act sees a closing and lingering note of flint to unify this most excellent OR Chard. For my taste, this is in the zone, and will continue to be so for the next 5 years give or take.

March 25, 2021 - Might be my last bottle of this. A light reductive petrol note on the nose. Taut & lively on the palate, with good persistence. Very enjoyable!

January 16, 2021 - This is interesting - for whatever reason, the Freedom Hill Chardonnay from Walter Scott seldom grabs me the way their other releases do. But I just had the ‘16 X-Novo within the last week, and it is fascinating just how different this wine is from that one. There is a light reductive note on the nose along with a fruit essence that feels slightly citric, almost but not quite lemon.

Then tart apple/citrus on the palate, with good acidity and persistence. But so very different than the X-Novo.

September 1, 2020 - This doesn't wow me. The nose has a fairly pronounced reductive note, which I honestly don't mind. But this falls a little flat on the palate.
