    December 24, 2023 - Overpriced.

The nose reveals a captivating blend of red berries, cherry, and delicate floral undertones, creating an enticing aroma that hints at the wine's complexity. The palate unfolds with a graceful interplay of bright acidity, velvety tannins, and a symphony of flavors, dominated by raspberry and cranberry notes with a subtle touch of earthiness.

The finish is both elegant and enduring, leaving a lasting memory of the wine's unique personality. Brewer Clifton's Hapgood 2015 reflects the winery's dedication to crafting wines that authentically express the terroir of Santa Rita Hills. But that’s the main problem with this wine… is that it is Santa Rita Hills and not Burgundy.

Though it is not great value, it was still enjoyable.

December 5, 2021 - PinotFest at Paul's (US Pinot Noir served blind) (At Paul's Place): This showed a smoky, perhaps reductive (?) aromatic. Rhubarb, tangy cherry, spicy cherry candy and a lot of spice in the finish. For me, the spiciness of the wine, perhaps driven by the alcohol (labeled at 15%), was too much for me or my palate.

July 24, 2020 - I think Greg Brewer is a top notch winemaker, very focused on the development of his vineyards for the expression of terroir. This is a great example of his work. The fruits are lovely (raspberry, cherry & anise) and structure well balanced except alcohol seemed a bit forward, so maybe wait another year for this one to mellow out? I drank it over three days, it got better & better as each day passed.
