April 13, 2020 - This was a tasty bottle from Zara Mesa. Tannins have started to mellow out a little. Could probably use another couple of years (was even more integrated on day too). Lots of sediments.

December 1, 2019 - Definitely worth waiting for. Decanted for a couple of hours, which certainly helped. Nice balance between the plum and cherry fruitiness, and the peppery spiciness. We had this with a mild chili (designed as a vegetarian dish to which I added some browned beef and tomatoes), carrots and rolls. This proved to work very well, as the low "heat" in the chili matched up nicely with the pepper in the wine. Looking forward to our bottle of the 2015!

July 24, 2019 - Black and blue fruit; some earth and spice. Tannin still a bit prickly. Alcohol is noted at 14.2% but the finishing burn indicates higher.

    September 13, 2017 - Maker's Note

The Chapel G block was planted in 2008, comprising 14.3 acres of Syrah. With its high-density spacing and new clonal material, the block immediately stood out to our winemaking team, inspiring them to capture the pure qualities of the site. Although it is only the fourth vintage, the Chapel G has become a signature Syrah in the Zaca Mesa lineup. The 2014 Chapel G Syrah displays a mixture of red and black fruits, violet, and pepper. It is supple with remarkable concentration and polished tannins.
