October 23, 2021 - Wasn't expecting much, as the last bottle I tried was OTT. Still very deeply purple/black coloured, there's a nice nose of tar, black fruits and a slight herbal and floral note. Still a big, ripe, rich wine on a full bodied palate, with similar flavours, and a mouth coating texture, ripe tannins and a lengthy finish. This showed much better than the previous bottle, and should last quite a while (B+/A-).

February 5, 2021 - Opened and poured from the cellar, and let warm up a bit. I. Great shape, a full bodied, brawny wine, throwing sediment. Rustic style. Rich, ripe palate of black cherry, plum, dusty blackberry. Fruity and great structure. Very nice indeed.

June 28, 2020 - Lots of comments about this being on the old side, but I'm not so sure. But I have found Douro wines don't really improve with age, thery just 'change', although it is early days for Douro red wines. This is quite tannic and rather rustic. It's not showing any imbalance or over-ripeness, but it certainly is a big, powerful wine with significant alcohol levels. A mix of red and black fruit, lot of tar, earthy notes and, again, lot of ripe tannins on the full bodied palate. I used to enjoy this style, but not so much anymore, so as always, your mileage may vary (B).

January 24, 2019 - Can't remember the details but might have been better a couple of years ago. Subdued nose, medium body, dry finish.

    August 8, 2017 - -- decanted approx. 30 minutes before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 2-3 hours --

NOSE: moderately aged aromas, with a hint of oxidation; cherry/raspberry/blackberry liqueur; hint of celery.

BODY: medium-fine particulate matter present; black-garnet color of medium-deep depth with slight bricking throughout; medium-full bodied.

TASTE: significantly drying tannins; medium oak note; medium-low to medium acidity; mostly purple fruited; some baked cherry and prune notes push past the oak and tannin on the finish, which is long and of medium intensity; 14.5% alc. is notably spiky; quite purple-fruited; alc. still noticeable even when paired with steak. Seems this is best to Drink Now, as I believe it's on its downslope. Disappointing showing --- I was expecting this to age better than it did.
