October 11, 2006 - I found two bottles of 1997 Monterey Vineyard Cab at a small corner store that had been sitting there with no home for many years I suspect. Opened the 2 bottles about a month ago and drank both in one night. Very low acid, low tannin. Definitely ready for drinking. Hints of blackberry and toffee. Very very smooth. Went down like water. Excellent find. Monterey Vineyard is now Blackstone winery afaik. There was a fair amount of sediment so the last 1/10 of both bottles were a loss. Required no breathing time. Corks still intact. I can't see this year aging any further than 2008, but who knows.
