April 8, 2020 - Afraid this 21 year old Barolo was over-the-hill, I am very pleasantly surprised how well it has held up! Is Ravello a “traditional” producer? Some black cherrry and dried flower and herbs, but otherwise we are mostly in tertiary aromas and flavors, leather, hazelnut, walnut, coffee with the high alcohol evident on the nose. Great balance in the mouth with M+ to high acids well balanced by the ever present dusty, chalky tannins that are pleasantly mouth coating. Long finish and complexity keeps you coming back for the next sip. Bravi i Fratelli Ravello!

December 15, 2016 - Took a while to open up, but it did open and was a delightful accompaniment to a lamb shank. Complex, both fruit and earth tones.

March 4, 2015 - Foursquare and still very tight. After 15 years I expected more pleasing and mellow notes. Nose is good with some asphalt, medical and iodine notes.

July 16, 2005 - WOW! Big, fruity nose. Surprising considering I had just opened the bottle. Cherry and other intense fruit. Also impressive was the wine in the mouth. In one word: big. Good balance and tannins that suggest there are several years left in this wine. To cap it all off, the wine finishes long and pleasant.

(Fratelli Revello Barolo Vigna Conca) Intriguing dried raspberry nose with a little vanilla oak; tight cherry, with chewy tannins and sandalwood edges, tasty, but needs 7 years; medium-plus finish 91+ pts.
