Community Tasting Notes 4

August 25, 2023 - Very northern rhone-like on the nose. Smoke, olive tapenade, bacon fat, florals, and muted fruit at first, which opened up to be a bit candy-ish as time went on. However, a little to hot on the palate at 14.6 abv. Very tasty, but the high alcohol makes it feel a bit disjointed.

May 15, 2023 - Juicy and delicious. Lots of big fruit and spice notes.

November 18, 2018 - Drank this after the 2016 AM Alisos Syrah. This one is by no means shy but is more refined than the Alisos. Higher price point that Alisos, though, so Alisos may be better QPR.

September 3, 2018 - (Tasted at the winery) Difficult to detect the 8% co-fermented Viognier, which normally provides an aromatic lift to AM’s Roasted Slope. Substantial grip with some gritty tannins in the finish. The fruit is muted. My sense is that this would have improved with a vigorous decant. Time in the glass started to open ‘er up. But by that time we had to move on. Overall, though, an excellent lineup in this AM tasting. (Rating Withheld)
