  August 2, 2019 - From memory, at Italian Village Market, transparent ruby, intense and fresh, spice, funky cherry, raw beef, savory and slightly salty, and no apparent tannins, another Canary Island stunner, Colares with a big helping of fresh fruit.

  September 20, 2018 - Intense smell of smoked ham hock on the nose which carries through to the palette. Definitely a fun, but challenging wine. Definitely did enjoy it.

  July 27, 2018 - Bought at Minimo in Oakland at the recommendation of the staff, who described this as something different and fun. Very strong savory, wet gravel and soil notes upon opening. Metallic, bloody(!) finish and aftertaste- one of the most intense wines I've tasted. Splash decanted it and let it be for an hourish. Happy to report that it evolved- still a very savory, mineral wine, but with the addition of red fruit, strawberries, raspberries. Nice texture, balanced, not hot or overwhelmingly tannic. Definitely a really interesting wine that speaks to its volcanic origin.

  October 30, 2017 - Wow this was such a fun wine. Really spicy and gamy, red-fruited aromas. Bright acidity but nice fleshy fruit and moderate tannins, lots of pepper and gamy spice.
