May 6, 2023 - Purchased for $40. Tasted for #tawnytuesday. I've never had Quinta do Infantado so this was a treat. Infantado is an estate bottled Tawny, which means they grow the grapes, crush and vinify the Port, bottle and age it all on their property in the Douro. They're not the only producer to do that, but it's not very common. They were also the very first producer to sell their wines directly to the Portuguese market, rather than through a house or negotiant in Gaia.

Dark Tawny in color, almost mahogany. On the nose, spice, caramel, date and hazelnut. On the palate.... What. WHAT?!?!?! This is the dryest Port I've ever tasted. There's almost no sweetness at all. This is extremely interesting. Dates and loads of citrus on the palate. Like dried orange or orange rinds and hints if lemon. Sort of reminds me of iced tea. Absolutely lively acidity that jumps from the glass. There's a bit of a drying note on the finish. Tannins? Just the dryness of the Port? Long finish with lemon notes on the back end. For those of you who know me, you know i tend to prefer the sweet style of Port. But this was just mind-blowing. The dryness really threw me for a loop. For the dryness alone i give this:

March 25, 2023 - Portugese Wine Tasting (Perman Wine Selections - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Figs and dried cherry working well. Good enough density and balance. Good now.

February 17, 2023 - Fresh nose with hints of raisins and spice. Fresh palate, nice acidity with red fruits, menthol, spice; medium-long finish. Enjoyable.

December 10, 2022 - At winery. Like the white, this one didn’t come together for me, some of the wrong kind of oxidative character present.
