March 25, 2024 - What a surprise. I bought this bottle 7 years ago in Australia. Well rounded, balance, eucalyptus. Great to have it with light Chinese food. Really enjoyable.

Has aged remarkably well. Age has tempered what was clearly once a quite pronounced wine and you are now left with a seamless mix of cherry and blackberry, interwoven with cedar, leather and forest floor. This won't improve from here and was probably brighter several years ago, but nevertheless is still provides lovely drinking now.

August 31, 2013 - Alternative Varieties Tasting: Cherry and earth but a little muted. Medium bodied, the age is showing through a bit. Drink now.

    May 15, 2013 - Day 1:
Purchased from cellar door 1 month ago. Short cork, stains halfway up. Decanted 20 minutes.

Red brown. Aromatically, not much discernable. Thin-bodied, grippy tannins with a hint of bitterness, and again not much in terms of flavour. Rather odd in that the wine did not display any symptoms of being over the hill - if anything, it seemed in "good" condition.

Hard to rate this, as while there is nothing inherently wrong with this bottle, there's nothing of merit either. Based on this, a good example of the tenet that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. 85 points

    Day 2:
Second half of the bottle was stored in a 375ml bottle. A lot more weight to the body and slightly more interest aromatically. 88 points.

Conclusion: if you have an excellent condition bottle of this, give it oxygenation via the "Audouze" method, at least 24 hours in advance.

March 8, 2013 - Enjoyed this wine. Chose not to decant (good decision) so there was some sediment, as expected. Still has some fruit but certainly on its tertiary characteristics. tannins still firm. Though I would drink up now.
