September 22, 2022 - Complex balanced wine at its best. Halliday states it’s drink by date is 2026 I think it will last longer but it’s best drunk now

January 26, 2021 - Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby colour, with fading rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry and plum, red fruit of ripe cherries, sweet spice of clove, oak notes of toast, pungent spice of licorice, animal notes of leather. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium (+) alcohol, with medium body and medium (+) intensity flavours of black fruit of blackberry and dark cherries, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of walnut, sweet spice of nutmeg. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Australian SGM with an intense nose showing good complexity, with ripe black fruit and spicy notes. On the palate the wine has good lively acidity, with a robust structure, good tannin while the flavours are concentrated, with a decent length for the finish. It is ready to drink now and can further develop for another 2-3 years.

March 6, 2020 - Thought this would be better. Lacks complexity. Maybe needed a decant/more time.

December 28, 2018 - Dark purple to black color.
Nose dominated by licorice, but with herb, musk and berry overtones.
Palette, medium bodied, very drying, but with good acid and long finish.
Licorice, brambly berries (red and black) and some mint overtones are primary flavors,
Still very young, I'd love to see it in 5 or 6 years.

November 28, 2018 - 95 pts "A 52/30/18% blend open-fermented separately, the grenache with up to 20% whole bunches, matured for 15 months in French hogsheads (13% new). This is a very good Barossa Valley SGM, looking to the future rather than the past. While the flavours are complex, there is a lightness of touch ex the winery after careful monitoring of ripeness in the vineyards. Thus it has the best of both worlds, and by rights should please everyone with its mix of cherry, plum and blackberry couched in savoury tannins on the finish."
