April 7, 2024 - W bbq pork chop. Just OK. Mid weight, decent fruit but nothing special, limited length. I had expected more.

March 28, 2024 - Splash decant as we sat down to eat. The wine started out rather light -- in color, nose and palate -- and never really progressed from that. Maybe we're just too early as TC's Vintage Chart shows this wine at the end of its "drinking well: youthful" phase and about to enter its "drinking well: mature" phase. Light notes of strawberry, cherry and raspberry, touches of spice and oak, integrated tannins and relatively balanced acidity. Hopefully it will continue to develop, darken and deepen.

March 29, 2023 - I was really taken aback, as was the other taster, on PnP where this showed overt sweet oak, vanilla, kind of cheap nose and taste. Really not what I expect from any Tablas wine. I'm not sure how this was made. That said, this did fortunately mostly blow off over time. It comes around but then showed a bit of confectionary profile, some blueberry on the nose and at some point I said, boy this is good... but it's just good, that's it. A friendly food wine though, with soft tannins and a mellow approach. With air some dark berry mid-palate. Medium body, medium acid.

This ultimately becomes a solidly Good / Good+ wine and for me, that results in a score of '84'. My TN just over two years ago was much more enthusiastic ('89') and expectant of additional development. Hmmmm....

I purchased a few of these five years ago at a sharp discount for club featured wine in a mixed case, so the low-$20s USD price makes the QPR OK for me.

It'll be interesting to see how this wine develops. I'd like to wait for the next one until 2025-2026.

    13.5% abv

July 26, 2022 - Clear light ruby, almost a Pinot color.

Nose is Grenache-forward with fresh strawberries, cherries and red currants. Only hints to charcoal, spice and earth.

Spice and cedar on the more mature palate. Darker cherries. This wine doesn’t seem to have figured itself out yet. 93+ potential.

April 23, 2022 - Nose had dark red fruit, earth, and a bit of smokiness. It had a thick, almost luscious mouthfeel, with more red fruit, muted acidity, and a nice minerality that lasted through the finish. Definitely serve this at cellar temperature, not room temperature, as it can taste a little “sappy” when too warm.
