October 27, 2022 - This still would benefit from a decant. First time with Petrus. Exceptionally complex and regal with a long finish. Hard to believe this is from an average vintage. This is in or near its prime with a couple decades left. This was better then the 88 Haut Brion. Thanks FFTJR for this treat.

October 10, 2021 - Classic Bordeaux on the nose. Slight pencil led, forrest floor and stewed dark and red fruit.
On the palate it was inviting and fruit driven. However kind of one note. Very mature with fall leaves, tobacco and dark fruit. I really felt that it lacked some structure and backbone. A very soft wine with little to offer in the aftertaste.
I really expected something more vibrant and fresh. But instead got something kinda dull. It’t hard not to be disappointed given the price.
Bad vintage? Bad bottle? Who knows. The bottle might have been stored badly. -

October 9, 2017 - Cubs Playoff Wines (Lake Forest, IL): This was popped and poured. Initially, seemed good, but lighter in style and a bit herbaceous. However, this gained serous weight in short order and blackberry/black cherry really developed well. Quite impressive and special with more time. In the end, this turned out to be very good with the last glass simply delicious showing nice complexity and little to no herbaceous qualities. A wild ride.

July 2, 2016 - Ten Days in Burgundy, Champagne, and Paris; 6/24/2016-7/6/2016: Densely perfumed bouquet of black current and underripe blackberry with lovely damp earth and damp leather. Huge aromatics, pine and red cedar. Incredible power but all attributable to density and not wood or winemaking. Good level of acid, present structure, good maturity. Perfect bottle.

December 9, 2013 - From Double Magnum (3.0L)
This is a very delicious 91/100 wine. Hints some cedar/wood at the beginning and getting more sweet with time. firm structure than a normal bottle. Super delicious Petrus.
Drink it like a table wine.
Soft landing aftertaste, very nice finished.
Drink now - 2040+
ps. Looking forward to try 6.0L soon
