  March 13, 2016 - Medium-dark amber/copper color. Rich nose of lemongrass, maple syrup, white pepper, oiled wood, and the faintest hint of coffee. The palate on this is smoother than either the Yamazaki or Hakushu 12 Years Old, possessing subtle woody flavors and the citric bitterness of orange zest. This has a graceful finish, with only a short burst of perky heat at the back of the tongue to betray the youth of this whisky. Hibiki generally is the best of the Suntory range, in my experience. I have not tried the no-age-statement "Japanese Harmony" but, as the prior entry-level blend, this offers exceptional quality and value.
