Community Tasting Notes 5

April 30, 2023 - This is more like a light pinot noir than a rosé, which appeals to me. Lovely nose of forest floor and a hint of something green. Subtle notes of red berries with an understated sweetness to it, that I attribute to age. Nice wine. Appears surprisingly young, but should probably be drunk this or next summer. 90-91

May 31, 2020 - While the 2014 was pure magic, this was a bit more clumpsy, but still pleasing and with some years ahead of it

January 7, 2019 - Another killer Rose' from a Cotat...the 15 from Francois blew me away with the amazing crushed geology and energy...his cuz's is a little tamer in 16, but still posses that Cotat mineral magic...bowl full of fresh fruits, florals of orange blossom, roses, and strawberry field...crisp and refreshing with a nice sour cherry skin vibrancy...all framed in an elegant balance. Love how there is zero trace of martini alc fume you sometimes get in Rose'...pretty florals and dryness to the finish. Just LOVE um!!

December 25, 2018 - No formal notes. Wanted something refreshing to serve with Christmas dinner. This wine fit the bill quite nicely. Lovely with the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and cranberry relish. As always, this rose can use a bit of time in the cellar, which is totally fine with me. Will enjoy my remaining bottles in early spring around Easter. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

May 18, 2018 - Lovely color. Needs time to relax and open. Lots of chalky, minerality, and dry strawberries. Has a fair amount of structure and tons of acidity. Good now and probably better in the six months to a year. Enjoy or cellar until next spring/summer. Nice.

This is going to sound weird, but a few of the roses that I like the most seem to settle-down during the first year and get even better the second year after release. This is true for a few domestic and European roses (including, Arnot-Roberts Touriga Nacional Rosé, and especially for Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé and this wine).
