January 3, 2021 - The Gerard Potel magic is in full effect. Enchanting aromas of mature dried black cherry filled with stem and herb. The nose is intense but subtly so — a temptress inviting you back for sniff after sniff. Palate is fresh with plenty of life in the fruit and no hint of warm vintage overripeness. Layered and complex. Long with some grip remaining in the finish.

September 6, 2020 - Soft and subtle, in excellent shape for a 30 year old Pinot, but I believe it was too old and it’s complexity had passed it by. Cork wasn’t in ideal shape, and this could be why

November 23, 2019 - Beautiful aroma of iron floating from the glass and blue fruit on the palate. I will save my last bottle for 10 plus years.

March 10, 2017 - Zachys La Paulée Auction, Day Two (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Ripe black cherry aromas, nicely fresh with hints of maturation. Nicely balanced with an expanding finish. Seems as much Volnay as Pommard, but that's the terroir. No hurry to drink up.

November 27, 2016 - Brief note from memory. This was from magnum and in great shape. I remember many of the 1990 burgs as a little rough just out of the gate, but this showed none of that. in a perfect drinking window tonight, but in this format no hurry. was an amazing accompaniment to thksgiving dinner. thanks Kevin!

October 26, 2012 - Private Chef Dinner at Yann's New Place (Flatiron, NYC): Very deep blood ruby. The lovely nose is very fresh, with an immediate hit of orange oil; otherwise, rather reticent with dusty cherry, spice, and tar. The palate has lots of perfume, a very pure rosy, red cherry fruit, and some stern tannins and acid; excellent overall balance. It has very good stony, tannic length. A very fine wine that is ready but will keep and probably improve for years and years.

August 24, 2012 - Out of bottle into glass - bouquet of floral and spice mixture. A little green note that blew off in 20 minutes. Crisp, light, yet complex. Finish medium plus. A little past its prime.

November 23, 2011 - Great ripe red and black cherry on nose with fair spice in background. Some emerging earthy aromas that also come through on the palate, which is still mostly primary. Same fruit profile on palate, clearly ripe but still nicely balanced in almost every way. At a beautiful place today, I'd expect this to stay at this level for at least another decade. Thanks Gary!

October 23, 2011 - Irony, stoney with rich, deep red fruit atop spicy almost whole cluster reminiscent aromas. Great aromatic intensity, powerful iron in the mouth and a moderate finish. Very, very good, if not the epitome of complexity. Hard, though, to ask for more from a 20 year old bottle of a middle of the road premier cru vineyard.
