Community Tasting Notes 5

December 28, 2018 - Kind of old school, with the herbal character and bright acidity. Love this style, but was expecting something softer in '16.

August 2, 2018 - Dinner was classic steak and pomme frites with some young green beans. A young Cabernet Franc was in order, fresh nose and dark color, almost lushly herbal, leafy, soft acids and tannins, no oak distractions. Just enough structure to balance the fat in the meal. Wine temperature cool but not cold, added a chip of ice that didn't dilute just nudged the wine a bit cooler. Have always like this producer and this is a nice vintage. A wine made for food.

March 14, 2018 - Still working it out. Maybe just a touch more dark cherry fruit and less intense acidity than in years past.

February 24, 2018 - Kermit Lynch in store tasting . Small pour, small tasting glass.
Not terribly complex, light and elegant with a freshly delivered Cab Franc identity. For some dishes might be a good Rose substitute.

November 10, 2017 - If I have tried a Bourgueil before I don't recall. I try every Cabernet Franc I can and find this delicious. There is an umbrella of "Old World" memorable, rich lead pencil flavor all the way from nose to finish. The color is dark purple, almost opaque. Once we get past the graphite, metallic flavor, the fruit is rich chocolate cherry and raspberry. Almost full bodied. Poured through a vinturi, it still seems really young and quite able to age. More cherry on the finish. One of those wines you can't wait to take another sip. Just a bit of concentration away from a 90.
