February 14, 2024 - Opened and decanted 2 hours prior to the meal and then drank over 2+ hours. Medium-red color with garnet at the rim. A very demonstrable Pauillac nose pushed out of the glass and never relented, welcoming at the first whiff. Medium-bodied, great balance and a persistent finish. After 41 years, this wine slightly surprised to the upside. Drink now and for the next several years, bravo!

January 28, 2024 - Wow, this bottle was at a perfect place right now, still vigour and fruits, but showing age and integrating the structure.

The nose was so harmonious and speaking clearly of Pauillac and of Mouton with so much exotic spices, fruits ranging from red to blackcurrant.

The palate is medium to full bodied, still a bite (more like a hug) from the tannins, and fine complexity + a really long finish.

    Fantastic showing.

December 31, 2023 - high shoulder; plum red; fruity nose; opened for 4 hours and decanted just before serving; smooth but well balanced on the palate; drinks well and should hold for a few years

December 29, 2023 - Great on the nose. Delicious initial sip, but very short finish. Past it’s prime drinking window. Still enjoyed very much

December 28, 2023 - 12x Bordeaux 1983 vs 1993: All wines tasted single blind. Not decanted. As anticipated, the 1983 vintage prevailed in our comparative tasting, scoring 8 to 2 wins against the 1993 vintage, with two ties. The structured, classic ’83s exhibited greater depth and harmony compared to the ‘93s, which tended to be simpler, sometimes slightly green and dry, or at their best, fresh and light. However, in both vintages, aside from a few notable labels, many wines were evidently beyond their peak. The standout was, unsurprisingly, the Margaux (94pts). Tasting the some of the same ’83s a second time a few days later with decanting showed a marked improvement, highlighting the need of aeration.

TN: The nose offers an intriguing mix of the telltale Mouton toasty and burnt sugar aromas with some dark fruit lingering underneath, creating an inviting and alluring profile, though somewhat straightforward. On the palate, it's quite drying, which detracts from its appeal, but it's not without its merits. Without any major faults, it earns a decent 89pts, which is on par with the 1993.
