November 1, 2023 - This Grenache-dominated blend remains packed with red and black bramble fruits, Provençal herbs, orange zest, iron and licorice. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic, lightly oaked, softly tannic and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it stays dense in the middle and finishes with impressive length. This Châteauneuf represents terrific value. Vinturi decanted and serially tasted over three hours, it fully strutted its stuff after the first hour in carafe. Enjoy it throughout the remainder of this decade. Drink now-2030.

October 19, 2023 - The 2016 is drinking even better than 3 years ago. This wine is produced by the Quiot family, who have been making wine in southern Rhone for over 200 years. This wine is produced in large volumes, with grapes from 35 parcels encompassing over 250 acres; allegedly Lazaret is the largest estate in the appellation. A super classic CdP in structure and taste, and so consistent across the years. If you see it, don't miss a chance to try this benchmark wine. More here: https://m.famillequiot.com/919DPJ3JYQ?l=en

March 17, 2022 - This wine in my view deserves a bit higher score than the 88/89 I see so far in the ratings. Nicely fresh, with good fruit on the palate and a sweet, slightly tannic finish. Not the depth of other 2016 CdP’s I recently tasted, but very enjoyable. Ready to drink now or in the coming years.

March 12, 2022 - My expectations were high after Jeb Dunnuck wrote that 2016 "...is the greatest young vintage from the Southern Rhône Valley I've ever tasted". And indeed, this is a really good Châteauneuf-du-Pape! Full-bodied, well-balanced, and silky from start to finish. Lots of ripe berries and fruits, fresh French herbs, and nice spicy undertones. Very good already but can probably grow even better in the cellar.

December 11, 2021 - Would've guessed this was a $15 modern CdR if tasted blind. Simple, with primary notes of blackberry and black licorice and the faintest hint of garrigue in the background.
