May 5, 2024 - Eight months since my last bottle, this (L1518) continues to impress for its balance and harmony. Consumed over three nights, it was equally good each night, but different. The wine is in a gentle decline. Drink to 2027? Outstanding QPR.

September 11, 2023 - It’s been 14 months since my last bottle. As an experiment I drank this one over a week, specifically 25cl. each on nights one, two and seven, and I continue to be extremely impressed by its quality and savoriness. It is remarkably fresh and delicious on night seven, as I write this note.

As mentioned in previous notes, the wine is a very aromatic, medium-light bodied Nero d’Avola with structure, sappy acidity, and complexity. I have never had another Nero d’Avola in this style. It has an amazing aromatic and flavor complexity for a wine at this price point, so an outstanding QPR. I have enjoyed other vintages of this wine, and buy them without hesitation, but none has ever matched the 2015. It was best on night two, and even night seven was better than night one, which says something about the wine. Big cranberry and red fruit aromas, great acid backbone, gentle but present tannins, it gains a bit of heft with time and air, and is sappy and savory. If you want extraction and weight, this is not the wine for you, but if you want a very aromatic, savory, medium-light bodied food wine, this continues to be a gem. Drink to 2028+ ?

July 1, 2023 - Fine Sicilian. Worked wonderfully with a house-made pizza. Balanced, good acid and tannic structure with fruit dominating the palate.

April 2, 2023 - I can't say this is thrilling me to the point it once did. Decanted for a couple of hours. Black cherry in a glycerine robe on Day One, better integrated on Day Two. It becomes a little tiresome after a glass, though it is still delicious.

December 24, 2022 - A perfect match with rigatoni al forno.
