Community Tasting Notes 10

January 26, 2023 - A lot of honey on the nose. Hanibal's comparison to Chenin is on the money. Be easy to guess that blind. Hay displays some maturation. Still some rockiness. I still like this a good deal even if its a bit outside of what my expectations. I'd drink it sooner than later, especially given this lost a step in expression overnight.

November 16, 2022 - Short, tasted more like a chenin

February 25, 2021 - Beatles and Loathesome are spot on in their notes. This shows a lot more color than one would expect at this age. Almost but not quite golden. It shows some tropical and stone fruit sorts of aromas. Even a touch of banana and butterscotch. Just hints. The palate weight is evident showing the sort of richness you don't expect from a relatively young Chablis. None of which is to say it's a poor wine. It's quite nice. It's just a bit out of character for a Chablis and more in character with Chardonnay from other regions. It doesn't give you that straight citrus and mineral punch you expect. The acid is prevalent which buttresses the fruit just fine. Good wine and still a good value. You just have to be a bit flexible in your expectations.

October 15, 2020 - Had it been served blind, I would have guessed further south - Puligny, say. Quite rich, lots of Chardonnay here, well balance and in harmony, only a bit heavy if you like your Chablis razor-like. No hurry to drink, of couse.

September 13, 2020 - I like Louis Michel Chablis a lot and there is no doubt this is a lovely, well balanced, open fruit wine already pretty a point. I was surpised not to see a greenish tinge and my main criticism would be that it was very unChablis like. More NSW Chardonnay. Again I stress I liked it but it was a little more plush and less minerally than I would have hoped/expected.
