March 25, 2019 - Should have decanted this longer, (2+ hours) by the last glass really showing well. Evolved aromas of cocoa, dried flowers, licorice, etc. fleshed-out texture after opening. Textbook traditional Neb.

February 23, 2018 - Overraskende moden, frukten litt sliten.

October 27, 2016 - Double Blind Reds at Tilia (Tilia, Mpls): Medium dark bricked red color. PNP, drank 1 glass double blind over an hour. This was interesting. There was a lot of tertiary character to this wine. It was clearly older, but drank older than it was. My thinking initially was that this was an old Italian, likely Barolo. But I'd done an old Inglenook tasting recently, 70's and 80's wines, and the nose and flavor profile was remarkably similar to this. So I was torn, and ultimately guessed old Napa cab - note to self, go with your gut. The nose was dominated by root vegetable, mostly celery root with a good does of fennel, almost no fruit, subtle dried red fruits, light body, completely integrated tannins. Surprisingly advanced for '97 Barolo.

May 28, 2016 - Aged Nebbiolo Table at BerserkerFest (Peking Duck House, 53rd St, NYC): [Slow-o'ed all day from about 9 am.] Perhaps the surprise wine of the night. Gorgeous sweet red fruit with a great sense of harmony. Just a delicious, drinkable young wine. Not at all what one thinks of as a young, traditionally made Barolo.

October 14, 2015 - In which we ate all the truffles (Chicago, IL): This was ripe, with a lot of sweet red fruit that really exploded out of the glass with some air. Initially though, I found this to be a lot more earthy than the Brunate. Definitely a softer wine, with moderate acidity, and pretty much fully-resolved tannins. This was also a bit rounder and less sculpted than the Brunate.
