July 14, 2021 - This has come along a decent amount since last year but remains very hot. Either you like that style or give this years to try to settle. Enjoyable nonetheless.

May 27, 2021 - The C9dP Hauts-Lieux is unique and a powerful monster of a wine. Sorry but there is no other word to descripe this wine in my opinion. Never bevore drank such a dark wine and it is really a experience in my opinion. The aromas are dominated by dark fruits, minerals, wood, tobacco and herbs but on a level never experienced before. I can not drink more then a small amount. The wine is really good and i like it. But it is really exhausting to drink (sounds strange i know). A wine not made for everybody but really great in my opinion (my parents liked it too).

June 16, 2020 - Not really wanting to come out until night two but once it did it was spectacular. Black cherry liqueur, raspberry, red licorice, baking spice, minerals, and game. Very warm and inviting with only a slight hint of alcohol on the finish. Stylistically heavy but holds the weight well with structure and an near forty second finish.

April 15, 2020 - Deep purple, hazy, some very fine sediment in the bottom of the glass.

Nose: Very light note of perfumed blueberry skins, fruitcake spice, faint oak chest, smoldering charcoal.

Mouth: An utterly seamless wash of spiced blackberry, singed mission fig, and cassis lead off, fully melted into each other just before a toasted thyme note drives through the midpalate. Notes of charred sweet tobacco and black earth take over with beautifully polished tannins, as the fruit continues to shimmer through. Said thyme streak still shows all the way to the end against just a faint hint of charcoal and bitter tar, sealing the deal ahead of an endless finish.

Overall: Funny that the nose here gives up nothing of the deep well of flavors that's hiding underneath.. this is about the darkest, most intense Chateauneuf that I can imagine, and a profound wine within that profile. The tannins are pure powder even now, but the feeling is that there so much development to come in the flavors that laying this down is a no-brainer. The melt in the flavors should become even more interwoven, and this has the stuffing to last at least two decades more as tertiary notes surface. A triumph. Drink 2022 through 2040. Grenache, mourvèdre, cinsault and counoise.

    97.

March 15, 2020 - I have had many of the highly rated 16 CDPs and this was among the best. Surprisingly open for business after a 30 minute decant. I’m sure it will improve but anyone considering trying one now will be pleased.
