July 4, 2020 - Beautiful mineral red currant flavoured wine. Very light, only 12%. Complexity on the nose, red currant fruit, vanilla, smoke and leather. Palate really all about the minerality... Gained complexity over a couple of hours of being decanted - suggesting the drinking window needs to be lengthened.
April 11, 2020 - Volcanic and characterful. One of Spain's most expressive and lively styles of red.
April 5, 2020 - Red-fruited, smoky, mineral, med + acid, fine tannin
February 8, 2020 - My last - and a really good showing with all the earlier noted elements (cranberry, tufa minerality and capsid edge etc) now fully integrated.
For drinking this year.
December 14, 2019 - Apologies for continued monosyllabic score-only grunts but (triumphant) election campaigning in UK has rather taken up all my time! These are the scores of the past week+. Promise more comment once fully recovered.
November 12, 2019 - Cranberry-like red berry fruit core backed up by tufa minerality and green herb/capsid frame. Smoke. Idiosyncratic medium bodied food wine of real note.
For drinking up over the next year or so.
October 3, 2019 - This will drink well for years. Tastes like a more mature Benje.
September 15, 2019 - Nice showing. It has the lithe Burg-like body I love in red wines. Interesting that the nose and taste are much more about ash / earth than fruit. Toes the line of being more interesting than delicious but does not cross it.
March 20, 2019 - My August ‘18 note still applies. Something really left field and good!
January 9, 2019 - Austere or maybe just subtle but with soft corners and slate, strawberry, black pepper, and static electricity. Agree with johanpe that it lacks some balance. Drink now-2021.
