September 23, 2018 - Colour: dark cherry red
Nose: cassis, mulberry, plum. Gooseberry, nightshade leaf. Tabasco? Sweet spice. Elegant, fruity but with a savoury edge. Perfumed.
Palate: cassis, plum, sharp fresh red berry fruit. Nightshade leaf. Fresh, maybe with some carbonic character. Savoury, fresh, medium bodied. Young, fresh, lithe, lively berry-like acidity, very smooth fine grained tannins, slightly drying, just enough to provide some structure. Medium bodied, 13% alcohol. Quite a new direction for Penley Estate. -

March 23, 2018 - East End Wine Down (Adelaide): Green pepper. Very chalky. Not exciting on the palate. OK. Apparently, first vintage under the helm of their new winemaker.
