Community Tasting Notes 6

March 26, 2015 - A touch if wood varnish on the nose with a pinch of volatility. Fruit on the retreat, drinkable but past it. This bottle has seen better days. **

October 14, 2014 - Crimson color with noticeable bricking. Nose starts out somewhat dry, with aromas of black tea, subtle woody notes, and a pervasive earthiness. Within an hour of opening a beautiful tart and ripe aroma of lingonberries emerges. The palate on this is gorgeous, retaining a perfect balance of fruit, tertiary flavors and acidity. We lingered over this and it started to lose a little steam over three hours, but the majority of the experience was a delight. My fears about this being dried out (especially given Remington Norman's rather cautious comments on the longevity of the vintage) were unfounded. This is perfectly mature and warrants immediate enjoyment.

March 12, 2014 - Pre-Paulee Birthday Dinner (Jardiniere - San Francisco CA): Very good fruit remains, just with a little too much structure. Firm with pronounced tannins, particularly near the end.

November 5, 2013 - Second bottle of this. The first one was dead. This one was alive. It had some fruit, sweetness, brown sugar. Border lining on oxidation. A sharp acidity and not very balanced on the finish. Drinkable but not good in any way. Should probably have been drunk 5-7 years ago.

September 24, 2013 - Good color. Bright red and clear. But unfortunately over the hill. No fruit. Just alcohol tones and structure. The same on the palate. Just acidity, no fruit. I guess it should have been drunk 5-10 years ago.
