Community Tasting Notes 5

  • Robert Pavlovich Likes this wine:

April 15, 2019 - Ripe mixed red fruit and a touch of earth on the nose, open and showy. Very fresh and somewhat acid driven on the palate, with an herbal streak and savory spices to accompany the dark red fruits. Finishes medium, on its fresh acids, with fine tannins lurking underneath, could use a few years to soften the structure. Good mix of feminine/masculine character. Thoroughly enjoyed this with honey duck and veggies. Fairly high expectations easily met, and I’m excited to drink these 1ers in time.

March 29, 2019 - Mostly 2016 Volnay Flight (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Clear light red. Really brambly smells. Light weight, tart red fruit, excellent acidity and soil throughout. This really gets the salivary juices flowing! Long, grainy tannic finish. Needs time but classic and really excellent at this level (priced like most Premier Crus, though).

Superbe fruit, pur, un peu réglissé, avec une belle finesse. Délicieux. 90 pts
