  May 15, 2021 - This has significantly improved since, very enjoyable for the price point. Price and taste trajectory is very similar to the Château Clairac, to the point of giving rise to the suspicion that the same people might be involved in the production.
  
  That is not the case: it appears at first glance that one "Chantal Raynaud" owns the estate. Not 100% sure if that is the same as Chantal Raynaud-Lebreton of Chateau La Croix de Gay, but she certainly doesn't seem to be in the Carreau family.
  
  Even the grape variety composition of 90% Merlot / 10% Cabernet Sauvignon is the same as far as I remember, but that is to be expected for Blaye. I would consider this product an alternative.
  
  Raspberry, black currant, pepper, chalky on the palate now. I will keep my last bottle until 2022, but for anyone else I would recommend consumption, it is overdue.

  January 14, 2018 - First Private Budget Red Quaffer Re-Buy Contest Marathon; 9/1/2017-2/13/2018 (At Home): Brilliant ruby with deep dark shadows, low viscosity. Red fruit, juniper berry, cherry. Needs aggressive decanting or waiting for day 2, otherwise a bit watery and simple. This way it turns slightly chalky and acidic, but quite pleasant with a cherry, juniper berry, pine needles and a generic red fruit palate. May be too young, but as it is not too much depth in here. Right now perhaps an 86 at PnP and an 88 from day 2 onwards. Shouldn’t touch my next bottle until at least 2020.
