November 21, 2023 - PnP - This wine is in a nice window! The wine is in an excellent place right now! Nose shows plenty of florals, tropical fruit and honeycomb. On the palate, the acidity is there to keep the fruit fresh (poached pear, stone fruit and honeydew), but the terroir is shining through with plenty of sea shell, oyster and hints of flint, with subtle toasty oak rounding out the wine. With time in the glass, the wine becomes even more rounded and develops nice, light notes of honey. Texture is viscous and the finish lasts a nice long time! We had this with a nice meal in Chablis, but it would be equally enjoyable on its own! No hurry, but it doesn't disappoint now! Solid 95+ for my palate, and definitely the best Chablis 1'er I have ever tasted!

Note: The only other time I had Raveneau, it was young and I found it too acidic....so if you enjoy the freshness of high acidity wines, this is not it! If you enjoy a nicely balanced wine that shows fruit and the complexity that develops with age, then this wine will be squarely in your wheelhouse!

October 29, 2023 - Bourgogne visit 29/10-1/11-2023: Needed a long time in the glass to opening up. Boring in the beginning (lemon and liquorice - rating 89) but after half an hour extremely nice nutty aromas etc. began developing and the rating ended at 93. Excellent glass

August 1, 2023 - Raveneau is always a safe bet no matter the vintage, but their Mont mains is together with Foret, consistently their weakest bottling. The 2016 Mont mains is still very youthful, and while this doesn't have any of the unpleasantries of the vintage, it doesn't have much else going on at the moment. Very stony and mineral, loads of lime and ripe pear, but acid driven, lean and ultra precise. Very austere and stringent. A great wine, but not at all ready to drink. 2030+

February 25, 2023 - First time I have had the mont mains and now I understand why people think highly of it even though it gets over shadowed by the other “mont” ée de tonnerre. Rich and fleshy, optimal oak. Ripe pear, and stone fruit. Not as linear as I would expect from Chablis but extremely well balanced and great mouthfeel highest recommendation.

December 12, 2021 - No sign of hot vintage here. Very fine and detailed, restrained, very elegant, classy. Classic Raveneau we had this following an incredible 08 Forest from the same producer. Raveneau is a genius.
