June 29, 2019 - Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 6 *shared* bottles] from 06/28/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Arturo, THANK you for including me it your bottle #13679! :)

97% Tempranillo & 3% Albillo harvested manually; “Fermented in barrels & small concrete vats, after which it was aged for 24 mos in 225L FR oak barrels.”

N: RIPE berries with undertones of toast & earth; Intensity lurking

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by astringent pucker which pretty much resolves by the LONG, poss very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a potential tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS/deserves through '20, then making its 10th. 14.5% ABV; My EXC-, EXC poss with a bit of cellaring.

February 22, 2019 - Nice find from PJ's. 97% tempranillo and 3% Albillo from 80-year-old vines aged 2 years in barriques, per the email. It will need time in the cellar, as the first day it's brimming with loads of dry, grainy tannin in a fashion reminiscent of old-style Bordeaux, the fruit taking a back seat. The next day the fruit sweetens up and saturates the structure, picking up that slightly leathery sheen typical of the grape but in a more primary fashion than you'd find in a classic Rioja.
