February 6, 2023 - Retail $28. I was sent two bottles of this wine and I really liked the first bottle a half a dozen years ago-ish. I had forgotten about this bottle, which was in the "annex" of the cellar (long story). Dark in the glass, even "really" dark with equally dark fruit: blackberry, cassis, plum. The palate is fruity, balanced, tart. Excellent.

September 8, 2021 - An amazing Zin and one of the best Zin's I've ever had, hands down. It's over 10 days ago since I had this, so can't delve into specifics anymore, but suffice to say it was just showing perfect that evening. Perfect balance, perfect length. Full disclosure: I do know Ryan the winemaker/owner and I myself take fruit from the same historic vineyard in Clements Hills, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is delightful. Lodi at its absolute best.

October 22, 2019 - Fields Family Wines ’14 Stampede Vineyard Zinfandel (SRP $28): This delicious Zinfandel is produced from 75-85 year old vines and made in small lots (only 100 cases made) with minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar. A bright ruby color, this medium-bodied wine is juicy with beautiful raciness—showing a good sense of balance between richness, freshness and finesse. It offers appealing aromas and flavors of cherry and tart plum (gorgeous fruit), with notes of dill, spice, perfume, and loam adding complexity. This wine paired exceptionally well with the cherry/pecan baby-backs I smoked over the weekend. If you enjoy vibrant, food-friendly Zins that flirt with elegance, then this is your ticket.

March 24, 2019 - On the nose- Kirsch red and dark cherries, plum, red flowers, violets, raspberry, currants, rhubarb, pipe tobacco, earthy tones, leather, mountain herbs, pepper

On the palate- Kirsch red and dark cherries, plum, red flowers and violets, red raspberries and currants, some rhubarb notes, a bit of pipe tobacco and earthy tones with a hint of leather, mountain herbs and peppers, this wine is drinking KILLER right now and I would give it an hour or more air time to show its stuff, this wine could age another 5-7 years if not longer with no problem, I could see this doing great with any big meat dish or pasta dish

January 15, 2019 - I have become a big fan of fields Family Winery over the past few years. This Zinfandel is another reason for my continued support of their wines. We enjoyed it with some Italian fare. It was a great match for homemade Marinara sauce and pasta. It shows a nice deep ruby color. The nose is quite inviting, with red fruit, and some earthiness. This wine shows fruit that matches the nose, with great acidity, (but not overly fruit forward), and great balance. It show moderate tannins that are in balance, with a moderately long finish. This wine reminds me of Zinfandel from an earlier era (think 1980s). It is not a fruit bomb. It is a nice change of pace. In an era of overly fruity, overly hot Zinfandels, this wine offers a more finessed wine. I hope more people learn of this winery. They are doing some great things.
