January 25, 2024 - Classic WA cab! Or is it classic Feather? Either way, this is what I want from a cab: deep, dark berry flavors, great acid balance and fine tannins. And it has a familiar taste that says Classic!

November 27, 2023 - Decanted >2 hours. Dark red fruit with spice, earth and smoke. Luscious juice in the mouth with a long finish. Very good now but recommend a few more years of cellar time.

November 11, 2023 - Very nice wine thigh lacking depth of fruit that I was expecting .

August 6, 2023 - Tasting great, has more time but nicely balanced cherry cola flavors and a perfectly balanced finish. Blackberry flavors. Great right now.

March 12, 2023 - Not as full bodied as expected, but well balanced. Overshadowed by wine braised short rib.

(Long Shadows Feather Cabernet Sauvignon) Hello friends. In 15 years of business, Long Shadows has settled into its home as a premium standout amongst the ranks—a leader in the movement that is Washington wine. Hitting a decade and a half is no easy feat for any business, and what’s most impressive is that Long Shadows continues to be relevant. And not just relevant—highly desirable, sell-out before release, rippin’ through vintages relevant. Now, they’ve moved largely to a pre-sell model for the Seattle market. Today, we have access to two of the winery’s most treasured offerings, both of which will likely be sold out before their official release date. Plus a bonus reoffer at the end. Most of Washington’s purveyors of wine wait in anticipation every fall for certain releases. When it comes to Feather, we know it’s going to be released, we get to taste it, but we just don’t know exactly when it’s go time until we receive the e-mail from Long Shadows’ local representatives: It is with great excitement that Long Shadows Winery and Vehrs Distributing announce the release of 2016 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon and 2016 Saggi Tuscan Red Blend! These two wines are always the most popular of the Long Shadows portfolio and to have them both released together just in time for the Holidays could not be better timing. Feather is the Cabernet Sauvignon of Long Shadow’s lineup, and the partner winemaker is Randy Dunn. Dunn is a Napa Valley legend who established his reputation at Caymus in the late 1970s before establishing Dunn Vineyards in 1979. He has been making exquisite Cabernet from Howell Mountain and the greater Napa Valley ever since, and for Allen Shoup to attract him to the Long Shadows lineup back in 2003 was a real coup. What we’ve loved about the Feather project from the beginning is that each vintage has been 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. No fleshing it out with Merlot, no salt and pepper from a splash of Petit Verdot; just pure, honest Cabernet from some of the best vineyards in Washington. 25% of the Cabernet comes from Dionysus Vineyard, 50% from a mixture of top Walla Walla vineyards, and 25% from the greater Columbia Valley. The juice was aged 22 months in 100% French oak, 90% new. Feather consistently shows as an ethereal expression of Cabernet, a balance between dark fruit, refined tannins, and a true sense of polish. This year, the listed alcohol is 14.9%. The nose is deeply expressive with brooding fruit, blood orange acidity, leafy herbs, and pure Washington dirt. The lush fruit and suave texture are the stars here; the flavors a ringing bell of Cabernet purity, all cassis, cocoa, and spice box. The lengthy finishing grip tells you this could be nothing but world-class Cabernet. There are no reviews out yet, but at this point, the pedigree and year-after-year consistency of the project speaks for itself. Feather has consistently received fabulous reviews from a broad range of critics. Paul Gregutt, Stephen Tanzer, Jeb Dunnuck (including a 97pt review for the 2015); all have heaped praise on this wine. And as a special bonus, Long Shadows has allowed us to reoffer a small parcel of the 2015 Chester Kidder:
