January 28, 2021 - Nose: (right after opening) subdued cherry, cinnamon bark, either closed or weak.
Palate (right after opening) medium tannins, sour cherry, citrus zest, low aromatics, carnation.
Will update for food pairing and after breathing a bit.
30 min. Velvety bouquet traces with balanced tannins, plums, chocolate (scratch that) cocoa, medium and a pleasant finish. Tannins became more visible enough to say above medium but not disturbing (well, depending on your tannin perception)
This is unexpected: it pairs very well with raita on garlic naan. -

August 16, 2018 - This wine is a steal and would be great as a regular drinker; light on the wallet and easy to drink. A bit of black berries dipped in vanilla on the sniff test, then you get chocolate on the first taste. Use some Swiss cheese and the chocolate will really come out. With the chocolate is a bit of plum and then a hint of oak. It doesn’t fill your mouth for very long. It’s advertised as having “Bold Tannins”, but that’s far from the truth. The tannins are very tame. So, I don’t think this wine would age well. It’s ready to drink now and through 2021. I’m buying more because it’s at a great price, and well balanced right now.
If you don’t like overripe Cabs, then you’ll hate this wine. I’m almost a bit curious if this was too overripe, then they worried about sugar rates, watered things down a bit to control the alcohol and that’s why we lost the tannins. I don’t know, but I do think it’s good now but won’t last.2 people found this helpful Comment -

January 2, 2018 - White chocolate and blackberry. Cloyingly sweet, with weak tannins. Not much spice, minerality, acid or savory herbs for ballance. The 2015 I tasted last week had potential but I'm not optimistic about this 2016. It's possible I'll change my tune a year or two from now but I'd be surprised. Not recommended.
