March 29, 2024 - Nice age for this wine with earthy pleasant nose and ripe plum start on the palate. Mid palate and finish pleasant with mild licorice, dark berry and fresh leather. Not as complex or layered as would be optimal. Tannins still need a bit of integrating but right sized with food. Can age more but not likely to get significantly better.

February 10, 2024 - Less green and less bretty than many vintages, perhaps the warm ’15 suits this well. While I have nothing against green and funk in moderation, this was probably the most crowd-pleasing Le Puy I’ve ever had.

December 7, 2023 - Lasted tasted this wine 5 years ago. Stored nicely from Paris and wanted to check in on this 2015. Popped and poured.

On the nose, it’s medium sweet fruit. Lead pencil and earth. Not too much complexity at this point and not sure it will evolve much more. However, there’s some nice terroir on the nose.

On the palette, I’m finding it well integrated and a bit on the sweet side. Tastes rather simple with the tannins quite mellow at this point. I remember enjoying this one much more 5 years ago. Perhaps it has entered into its awkward phase. Regardless, I still find it interesting and educational, how wine doesn’t evolve in a linear fashion. Almost as if the bottle is into its adolescent stage – aloof and cranky. That’s what it felt like. And that’s why I love Bordeaux so much. It’s unpredictability. Good but not great today.
