Community Tasting Notes 4

May 10, 2021 - {screwcap, 12.5%} Light straw yellow. Honey and sweetly stewed apples; cinnamon, cloves. But all very gentle and enticing. Puckering medium/high acidity balances out the sweetness of the fruit, but this is dry by any measure. Medium weight at least, with a strong mid-palate. Powdery sort of texture; talc, grapefruit. Only partly along a development path; medium/long finish. This is lovely now, but surely for or next 5-10 years at least.

December 27, 2018 - 6 Tasmania wineries Dec-19; 12/27/2018-1/2/2019 (Tasmania): {screwcap, 12.5%, A$33} Biodynamically farmed these days. Also sees some time in neutral Austrian oak, noticeable more on the palate than the nose, which offers a grassy, lychee, talc-like set of aromas. The palate has seemingly soft acid, but it’s still mouth-watering. Lychee and custard apple flavours, light/medium-bodied, and with barely any RS, it’s a pretty attractive mouthful. The oak seems to just fill it out a little, perhaps taking the edge off the acidity with a greasy touch; it’s certainly not noticeable as a flavor in itself. Even palate, medium length finish. Aging this will be interesting.

September 15, 2018 - Ridgy-Didge Riesling Tasting 2018 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Apple over lime, chalky minerality. Wonderful linear acidity caries front to back of mouth the sharp fruit hangs off this. Good.

February 22, 2018 - Acid haus (Stanley Street Gallery, Sydney): Lees and lime, floral perfumed top note. Zesty and juicy, citrus and a little front of mouth grip and breadth to the mid palate. Fruit drops a bit quickly though.
