May 24, 2021 - {diam, 13%} Quite a deep garnet still. Hardly looks seven years old. Still-youthful nose of black currant and olive. Has a distinct dark green streak to it. Could pass for Margaret River in a heartbeat. Palate is a mix of capsicum and black olive, with dried currants too. Feels like a hot vintage that’s been watered back; there’s a real raisin quality to the flavours yet it’s labelled only 13% alcohol. Curious. Has some heft and brawn, despite only really medium weight, it’s more that the flavours aren’t so polished. Grainy dusty tannins of medium heft, lowish acidity. Has a rather thick finish, of medium length, that lacks for freshness. Not exactly convincing, and I don’t think further cellaring will help this much.

January 2, 2020 - {diam, 13.5%} A bit of mint, asparagus, blackcurrant. Just past primary stage, barely developed. Finely gritty tannins, medium acid, medium weight. Even presence on the tongue, medium length finish. Will age for a while still, even if the dark green aspect of the wine does nag a little.

December 31, 2018 - 6 Tasmania wineries Dec-19; 12/27/2018-1/2/2019 (Tasmania): {diam, 13%, A$38} Actually 90% cabernet, with 5% each of franc & merlot, and 2% PV to round it out. Lovely cabernet nose of currants and herbs. The palate has a generous lacey texture, with medium chalky tannins, medium acid, and medium weight. The palate is nicely even too, and it avoids any leafy green notes. Bats above its weight. Good wine.
