    February 11, 2022 - Wonderful wine!!

September 15, 2018 - Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Oh My! (San Diego Wine Co.): From vines "planted in 2004 on a hillside of silicious shale in the Templeton Gap District. Picked on October 20th & sorted 100% whole cluster into a 4 ton s/s tank. The fermentation was nearly 80% carbonic: a traditional technique used to make wines with soft tannins that allow for early release and consumption. After completing fermentation the wine was racked to 500 L neutral FR puncheons and aged for 2 mos before being filtered & bottled on January 11th, 2018."

    N: Fragrantly ripe, poss jammy

P: Med body; Puckerish entry with ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) NICELY counterbalanced by acidity which morphs into a LONG, PLEASANTLY tangy/swt finish for drinking now & through '20... safely. 14.2%; My VG+/EXC-, & one can argue for the higher based upon uniqueness, CURRENT drinkability, & this vendor's [closeout?] $19.99, which certainly compares VERY favorably to $45 elsewhere!

May 12, 2018 - fred o nailed it, grapey with good structure and acidity. Dark and brooding but totally enjoyable and difficult to keep my hands off of.... Love the way Ryan went carbonic with mourvedre and praise the inspiration.

April 26, 2018 - per online notes, 100% mourvedre, 100% whole cluster, fermented in stainless steel, 80% carbonic; aged 2 months in 500L neutral french puncheons.
All percentages/data aside: color is dark inky purple. Nose candied and grapey, perfumed, hint of garrigue. Palate fresh, fruity, light, finish with hint of tannic bite. Good with strongly flavored korean bbq, best with a slight chill. Refreshing and a good match with food, some nice complexity, I think this would be best now/within the next year while its fruity depth is still vibrant.
