Community Tasting Notes 5

May 24, 2023 - birthday dinner at Higgins (Higgins, Portland OR): It has quickly become a massive treat to have one of these bottles. I badly wish I had known about them before they became liquid gold. There is a reason for the hype train and its right here in the glass as even though this is young, there is a 5-piece string quintet already playing on the nose with a little bit of reduction at first that peels back into balanced tones of lemon oil, red apples, kumquat, roasted nuts, hazelnuts, pears, jasmine, peach, acacia flowers, and some mineral tones. The Medium bodied feel is so balanced and elegant while leading into crisp, medium+ acidity as well as a lengthy finish. This is such a beautiful wine and a real privilege to drink. I wish I could drink these more often. Instead, I'm just happy to have tasted it.

May 24, 2023 - No notes taken as this was brought to a restaurant, but I mentally noted that this is probably the best drinking Lamy-Caillat yet... either that or I'm just more impressed with the style over time. Still in its infancy of evolution, but the intensity and clarity shines through like a beacon throughout the wine. Incredible length and an impression that stays with you for a minute. Very impressive stuff. This bottle was actually best right after opening.

    March 25, 2023 - Gala Dinner 2023: (A) Small glass
Pure, lemony and linear. Overshadowed by PYCM tonight but this wine clearly needs more time. 92+

March 25, 2023 - Well made in a non-obvious way with richness and tension but not the heavy reduction so popular these days.

January 18, 2018 - Very nice nose of citrus, hint of vanilla, lychee, exotic fruit... very nice taste of citrus, matchstick, exotic fruit, nice fatness, length of 30 sec! 93-95/100
