March 15, 2022 - Deep ruby color with mild rim clearing - unfiltered
Medium plus aromas of black cherry/ blackberry with mild oak/ vanillin notes - Dark florals/ hint of smoke and beautiful rose petal and rose oil aromas - so enticing
Medium bodied with palate of red and black cherry and dark florals
High acidity and medium tannins - I found it difficult to tease these apart - the acidity really makes this wine seem more tannic than it actually is
    Medium alcohol and moderate finish
I haven't had a wine from Massa that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed, and I will add this to the list
Drinking well now but showing no signs of decline

    March 15, 2022 - Double blind tasting
    Deep garnet. Possibly filtered
Aromatics medium +. Oak, vanilla which I thought was some new but not overpowering/balanced with other aromatics. Dark fruit, mainly black cherry. Dark flowers, earth.
Palate has medium body. Tannins medium, rather coarse on teeth and gums but integrated none the less. Acid medium + to high. Alcohol medium +. Chalk and cherries. Green and dried stems.
Dry glass notes of clay pot and dark flowers
    Finish has medium length. Balanced
I guessed a Sangiovese given the tannins which I overrated.
Beautiful example of an aged Barbera.
Drink now, but does have the structure to age further if desired

    February 22, 2020 - Good stuff!

February 28, 2018 - This is a intensely structured Barbera. While it has immense fruit it has even more formidable tannins. Quite frankly this is young brooding tightly wound wine that somehow still shows well. This could age effortlessly for many years.
