April 6, 2023 - Time in the cellar really helped. Soft opening with a medium finish. Nice to see it was not a fruit bomb cab. Elegant and did not need to be paired with food.

January 14, 2022 - This is drinking great right now. Opened next to a '17 Empyrean, the '16 Hopper was a step above. Beautiful aromas of violets and tobacco. Dark fruits, creme de cassis, cocoa, grainy tannins and a long finish. Paired well with seared filet mignon tips and stir fried vegetables.

December 8, 2021 - 2 hour decant.....dark in the glass with that remarkable MHopper nose. So classic for this vineyard. Meaty, savory nose and palate. Red and blue fruited with a little black at the end. This one has thinned down a tad since release, lost some of the over the top fruit/glycerin and is sitting in a really good place right now. Very well balanced on all fronts. Very close to a 97 for me. Wish I had more, just beautiful.

July 10, 2021 - Palooza part 2; 7/8/2021-7/10/2021 (Marco Island/Naples): After hearing about Mark’s ‘bad’ bottle of this, I had to help him out by tasting his next one with him.
Fantastic and all the reasons that I love this vineyard. Clean, acidic, high energy and a yummy explosion of fruit. Dark cherries, blackberries, and some meaty umami and savory elements followed by tobacco. Long delicious finish.
I think we can safely conclude that Mark’s last bottle was an anomaly!

July 10, 2021 - This bottle so much different and so much better than the bottle just a couple of days ago. What is it with bottle variation lately? Crazy! Enjoyed after a 1-2 hour decant in the cellar.......

Last bottle light red, oxidized look to it, pretty watered down nose. This bottle.....dark garnet right from the pnp and the nose is deep and elegant with cassis, rose petal and now graphite as it opens up at room temp. The palate follows with that great B Cellars acidic backbone. This is more like it fellas!!! Just rich MHopper red/dark red fruit, meaty balsamic almost quality to it, some would use umami. A classic cab finish to it. This bottle really floats my boat......
