March 17, 2024 - Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Quite dark for a 2016, but fortunately this doesn't show quite as oaky as the 2010. Red fruit, but quite ripe and showing hints of black as well. Structure dominates here, but given the vintage, it's not overwhelming.

January 1, 2024 - Blackberry, black pepper, iron, tobacco leaf, black olive. Tannins are still grippy and present but it’s very very pleasant already and probably will still benefit from aging.

August 8, 2023 - A very sleek and refined Cornas that is starting to come out and play, but still fairly closed to my palate. A lot of aging potential. You can still notice the oak a bit imo.

June 30, 2023 - Deep ruby but not opaque. Blackberry confiture and subtle whole cluster notes. Medium weight. Elegant, restrained ripe fruit, some green herb, excellent acidity, and the finest thread of soil and stone that runs through it. Moderately tannic finish that does not preclude enjoyment now, and enjoy we did! Rarely does a Cornas evoke descriptors of refinement and even delicacy, but this wine was an exception.

March 8, 2023 - Hard to put a number on this. Upon opening and through dinner this was really gorgeous. It was everything a great Syrah should be, smoky, perfumed, dark cherries. Loved it. Took the remainder of the bottle home but two nights later there was nothing left at all. I was so sad!
