January 6, 2023 - Candied pear, honey, and butter. Nose was pleasant but not particularly complex or expressive.

Palate matches the nose with an additional oaky, nuttiness.

This is a technically well-made wine and is indeed pleasant to drink. That being said, I have to be honest that this wine falls a little flat for my expectations based on my other Rivers-Marie bottles and more broadly, Chardonnays at this price point. This would be rockin’ for a $20 bottle, but at $60+ (I forget exactly at this point), there are definitely more interesting options.

February 6, 2022 - The glass feels of toasty caramel drizzled atop a bowl of buttery popcorn. Its unfortunate that the light, buttery lemons on the nose don't fully carry over to the palate and finish. The oak starts to dominate a bit of the finish as it opens up, but not to the point of dominating the palate.

Paired with smoked cheese w/ espellete and chaumes w/ fennel pollen. The light butter adds a lot to the slight spice from the cheese toppings. This is drinking great and will probably need to be consumed soon.

July 5, 2021 - Pleasant enough middle of the road chardonnay. There's a touch more oak than I like, which I'm learning is fairly consistent for Rivers Marie.

June 27, 2021 - Monthly Tasting Group: Bordeaux and Cabs 2009 and Older (Chez Dalluge, MN): Sweet and juicy golden fruits, tropical fruits, pear, oak, full bodied, richer style, some brine and lots of vanilla though there's enough acid and tartness to balance out the oak. May improve as the oak integrates more.
